The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association is proud to support creators in science fiction, fantasy, and related genres. Whenever we uplift, defend, advocate for, and educate within these disciplines, we contribute to a larger push to keep literature, learning, critical thinking, and creative practice going strong.
That’s why, for three of the most potent months in a writer’s calendar – during November writing challenges, end-of-year deadline scrambles, and the thrilling dawn of a new year’s goals – we invite you into our Winter Worlds of Giving.
Since 1965, SFWA has provided a range of member and public benefits to assist creators at every stage of their careers. We have public resources for writers still aspiring to their first big sale. We stand with writers preparing for their legacy. And along the way, we provide grants for projects supporting related genres, emergency medical funding to writers in need, contract support and legal advocacy, and plenty of uplift and community through our brilliant volunteer teams and their projects.
But we have always done so with a lean staff supported by a tremendous group of volunteers. This means that every dollar counts, and every commitment to recurring donation or sponsorship moves mountains. That includes employer matching gifts, so make sure to check if your workplace can increase the impact of your gift.
When we ask for your donation, it goes to Where the Need Is Greatest, so that we can respond to the most pressing needs of writers every step along the way.
